After multiple times of trying to get into the Finance Industry and getting a lot of red tape it made me realise that I need immense support from my industry leaders and that is why I decided to join the FIA.

I value my FIA membership because I know that FIA are on top of proposed regulatory changes. They engage actively with the FSCA and they fight to protect the future of Intermediaries.

A wise old teacher from my high school days always coined the phrase “take part and be part.” My FIA membership is exactly this to me. I try to be more than a member - I try to share my knowledge and experience and receive the full value the organisation has to offer. Standing closer to the core makes it so clear that the “new” FIA have become a pro-active player in our industry with clear goals and objectives. It is effortless for me as a member to stay at the cutting edge of my Industry

You have chosen to be a professional advisor, planner or broker, you have decided to do it professionally, in a private or corporate practise, so why not partake as member of a professional trade organisation? Where you join a group of like-minded people, who all share your passion for the industry, want to grow it and make difference as Professionals not only in the lives of our clients, but in the way we conduct our business, interact with our service providers, the regulator and government. Be proactive, be part, I know I have. I have made the choice years ago to join the FIA and find it very rewarding and fulfilling to be part of the change in our Industry and not a follower!

The FIA is an organization for Financial Advisors around the country. Since becoming a member of the FIA, they have done great work aimed at looking after brokers in all disciplines, including being a voice for brokers by engaging and having an input in regards to legislation that affects all Financial Advisors. They are constantly keeping us in the know about upcoming legislation and changes in the industry while protecting brokers and our industry.

I love my job - love to make a difference in somebody’s life. To be part of an organisation that makes this job more professional just makes sense. The FIA provides me with information and support in the industry which enable me to be a better financial planner to my clients. The network of members gives me ‘colleagues’ I can turn to for trusted advice or just to soundboard ideas from.

In life, you can only change something if you make an effort to implement the change. You cannot sit in isolation and hope to be heard or hope to make a difference. What you put in – is what you get out! So, if you want to add true value to your business and wish to ensure longevity – you need to be ahead of the pack with regards Legislative and other changes in your industry that will affect your business. The only truly Full-Service Organisation out there in the Financial Services space is the FIA!

It is exciting to hear how active the FIA is and what they are doing for the brokers and insurance industry. They are actively involved in protecting the Brokers and the importance of our industry. The CPD points are a bonus, but more important was the content of the training. All of us can benefit from what we have heard and use it in the industry.
