The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), a South African Qualifications Authority recognised professional association for financial planners in South Africa, hosted its annual awards on Tuesday, 22 August 2018 at Inanda Club in Sandton.

The award ceremony was attended by regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders.

Hosted by TV personality (best known for presenting Top Billing on SABC 3), Ursula Chikane, the exclusive ceremony presented a great networking opportunity for all guests.

The evening recognised the top professional financial planners in the profession. An award was given in each of the 7 categories – the coveted Financial Planner of the year, FPI Harry Brews award, FPI it starts with me award, FPI media award, Top Student award, FPI Diversity Scholarship award and the Asterisk Awards.

Among the award winners was Ronald King, a member of the FIA board of directors. Ronald was presented with the FPI Harry Brews’ award for his remarkable contribution to the financial planning industry.

According to FPI, The Harry Brews’ Award, formerly the Chairman’s Award, was first introduced in 2010 to recognise a remarkable individual who has made life-long outstanding significant contributions to FPI. This, through promoting FPI and its impact, or the financial planning profession in the areas of service to society, academia, training, government, media or any other professional activities.

FPI renamed the award in honour of Harry Brews, the man who transformed South Africa’s life assurance industry, the first President of the then, Institute of Life and Pensions Advisors (ILPA).

Congratulations to all the winners and to Ronald for this great achievement!
