On Friday the 16th of November 2018, the FIA West Rand Branch held their black-tie year-end function at the exquisite Usambara lodge in Muldersdrift. The exquisite thatch hall was draped in fairy lights and Chinese lanterns with serenading background music that created a heavenly feel.

Mathys Booyens, as the master of ceremonies and committee member kicked the evening off by making the opening remarks and acknowledging the sponsors for making the event possible.

Bernard Lubbe, FIA’s Northern regional manager, and Nicola Iozzo, the Regional Director, spoke on behalf of the FIA sharing 2018 successes. 2019 plans were also spoken about, particularly the FIA’s increased provision of CPD content. The FIA CEO Lizelle Van Der Merwe, Solani Baloyi (Rand Regional Manager), Amanda Viljoen (Rand regional administrator) were also in attendance.

After the delicious meal had been enjoyed, members kicked off their shoes with an invitation to the dance floor and partook in the various options of dessert. Members danced the night away to classics such as Los Del Rio’s Macarena, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse’s Burnout and Kurt Darren’s Loslappie to name a few.

The event was well attended and the members were in great spirits and used the evening as an opportunity for networking.
