Galileo Risk Insurance Solutions and Infiniti Insurance support adventurers with a cause as MAD2Run | MAD2Ride fast-track empowerment … the race is on!
A global movement that galvanizes charitable support through sport continues to gather pace. Infiniti Insurance Limited, a local non-life insurer, and their Broker partner Galileo Risk Insurance Solutions are helping to literally drive these efforts in South Africa through their sponsorship of support vehicles for the 2021 MAD2Ride and MAD2Run events.
A growing community of civil society groups across the world are constantly looking for ways to help others while also deriving some personal benefit. MAD2Adventures was born from this desire to do good while pushing physical boundaries in an adventure like no other.
A group of friends founded the charitable initiative in 2012 because they believe that every South African is duty-bound to become an active citizen and make a positive contribution to their community and society at large.
A team of ordinary south Africans set themselves an extraordinary challenge – to use their feet for a great feat by running and riding an average of 1500kms across the country to benefit other South Africans.
The expanded platform now provides multiple unique opportunities for athletes and adventure-seekers to give their time and endure intense physical effort by participating in two inspiring cross-country events each year to raise funds for a worthy cause.
All proceeds from the events go to the education and leadership-focused Make A Difference (MAD) Leadership Foundation. To date, the MAD2Run and MAD2Ride events have raised R5.5 million for MAD.
MAD2Ride hosts 25 cyclists who traverse a slightly different and longer route than the runners. The riders tackle the 1600km multi-terrain route as a team and ride the full distance as a peloton in a multi-stage format.
To play their part and support this worthy cause, Infiniti Insurance ad Galileo Risk Insurance Solutions will proudly sponsor the funds needed to cover the rental costs of 11 support vehicles for the 2021 events.
The sponsorship also builds on Galileo’s prior involvement with the MAD Leadership Foundation through the company’s founder – sales and marketing director Hayden Simpson.
Samantha Sanders, celebrated winner of the 2019 SA Marathon Champs and 2013 National Cross- Country Champion will join the 2021 MAD2Ride adventure. Galileo Women’s cycling team member, Sam says she is excited to take up the MAD2 challenge – this is the longest distance event to date in her career. “I welcome the opportunity to take up the challenge in support of education and leadership, which are critical areas of focus towards building our nation and empowering our people, it gives great meaning to this initiative,” says Sam.
Riders will show their appreciation and support for the sponsorship by riding in Infiniti Insurance and Galileo Risk branded kit on two of the days.
This year’s intrepid MAD2Ride and MAD2Run participants will run and ride from Johannesburg and Cape Town between 8 – 15 October 2021. www.mad2adventures.com | www.galileorisk.co.za | www.infinitiafrica.com
