The 2025 African Insurance Exchange takes place from 27 to 30 July at Sun City and via live broadcast. The event aims to attract more than 1 000 insurance professionals in person at Sun City, with dozens more joining online.

Sponsorship is a major part of the conference business model. Here’s what some of the sponsors have to say about their participation this year:

Elite Wealth Assets Insurance will be bringing back the popular pamper pod at AIE 2025. MD Tarina Vlok says she herself would like to spend more time there during breaks.

“It’s a great spot for networking and easing tension with a free massage,” she says.

Other than the pampering, Vlok says she is looking forward to listening to the speakers and engaging with her friends and colleagues in the industry.

“The AIE has become an incredible, flagship event on the African insurance calendar,” she says. “I’m always extremely grateful to be part of it, but specifically to showcase our beautiful brand at the event.

“With digitisation and robotic automation becoming more prevalent in the insurance industry, I believe it is key to maintain human connection – and that is what the conference offers.”

Vlok says this year’s theme, “The Baobab Advantage: Multifaceted Growth and Continuous Evolution” resonates well with Elite.

“The theme rings true so well with us, especially given our 2025 strategic objectives,” she says. “For the past 2½ years, Elite has done a lot to ensure sustainability, which was not always received positively by brokers and clients. Now we are looking at growing our business in innovative ways. This includes strengthening existing relationships, building new relationships and ensuring all our marketing efforts are aligned with this growth objective.”

Philasande Maboa, General Manager Insurance at Netstar, says the 2025 African Insurance Exchange is set to be a pivotal event for the insurance and technology industries.

“Netstar is proud to be part of this prestigious gathering,” he says. “As a leader in telematics and connected vehicle solutions, we are continuously innovating to make South African roads safer and smarter while enabling insurers to mitigate risk, enhance claims management and improve customer experiences.”

Maboa says the theme for AIE 2025 aligns closely with Netstar’s vision and values.

“Much like the baobab tree, which adapts to its environment and provides sustenance and shelter, Netstar has built a resilient and adaptive foundation in the telematics industry. We leverage advanced data analytics, AI-driven insights and real-time vehicle tracking to create solutions that enhance road safety and streamline insurance processes.”

He says Netstar is looking forward to engaging in insightful discussions about the intersection of insurance and technology at AIE 2025.

“The event presents an excellent opportunity to showcase how telematics solutions are transforming the industry – helping insurers with claims validation, risk profiling and proactive risk management.

“We are particularly excited about exploring trends in insurtech, data-driven underwriting, and how connected mobility is shaping the future of insurance.”

Maboa says the Netstar team will be available throughout the event to demonstrate how its telematics solutions can provide insurers with actionable intelligence to reduce fraud, optimise claims processing and encourage safer driving behaviours among policyholders.

“In an era where digital transformation is accelerating, events like AIE provide a vital platform to explore innovations that drive efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction and build resilience within the insurance landscape,” says Maboa.

Thabo Twalo, Chief Underwriting Officer at Santam Broker Solutions, says this year’s conference theme is highly relevant to Santam.

“As one of the oldest short-term insurers in South Africa, Santam has thrived for over 100 years by continuously adapting while remaining rooted in its core mission – helping people recover from disaster,” he says. “Much like the baobab tree, which grows throughout its life and endures for thousands of years, Santam’s longevity is an advantage in a rapidly evolving world shaped by digital transformation, AI and emerging technologies.”

Twalo says he is particularly looking forward to engaging with partners at the conference, “… particularly our brokers and suppliers, as we discuss how to ensure the sustainability of the insurance industry,” he says. “This event presents a unique opportunity for collaboration across the industry, where we can come together to tackle key challenges and explore innovative solutions.

“The conference also allows us to connect with insurance professionals from across the African continent, many of whom share similar challenges in making insurance more accessible in an environment of increasing risk.”

As a diamond sponsor, Santam will have a strong presence at the event.

“You will see us through our various activations, and we encourage attendees to visit our activation points.,” says Twalo. “There will also be opportunities to engage in one-on-one discussions with our leadership team.”

In closing, Twalo says, “This conference remains a key fixture on the insurance calendar, and we are excited to be part of these important conversations that will shape the future of our industry.”
