The FIA is pleased to confirm that National Treasury (NT) has published revised Schedules to the Financial Sector and Deposit Insurance Levies Act, securing a more favourable outcome for the financial intermediary sector.
What We Achieved
Following comprehensive industry representations – including the FIA’s detailed submission on behalf of members – NT has reduced the proposed levy increase from 5% to approximately 4.4%. This reduction represents a meaningful cost saving for all FSPs at a time when regulatory expense management remains critical.
Our Advocacy
The FIA’s submission to NT focused on:
- Demonstrating the cumulative impact of regulatory costs on intermediaries
- Advocating for sustainable and proportionate increase trajectories
The Impact
This revised outcome delivers tangible financial relief across all levy categories, reflecting NT’s responsiveness to industry concerns and the value of collaborative regulatory dialogue.
Looking Ahead
The FIA remains committed to proactive engagement with regulators on matters affecting members’ operational and commercial sustainability. This outcome reinforces the importance of unified industry advocacy and the FIA’s role in amplifying member concerns at policy level.
South Africa is fortunate to have regulators who value meaningful industry input.
