Following the success of the 2017 FIA awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg on 7 June 2017, the FIA is happy to announce that preparations for the 2018 FIA Awards are underway – and we’re excited at what’s to come! As with the previous award ceremonies, we will be celebrating excellence in the industry over a year, highlighting the top achievers that deliver exceptional financial outcomes to the country’s financial advisors and insurance brokers.
The FIA award ceremony is one of the highlights on the insurance calendar each year. This is a time when we get together as stakeholders to celebrate the top product suppliers in the industry who support intermediated distribution in South Africa.
The FIA Awards serve as a reminder of the complex relationships that exist between our members and product suppliers as they join forces to deliver the best possible financial outcome to consumers.
An award is given in each of the 9 categories outlined below, that ranks the highest on a comprehensive ‘whole of FIA membership’ broker satisfaction benchmark survey.
- Short Term Insurer of the Year – Personal Lines
- Short Term Insurer of the Year – Commercial
- Short Term Insurer of the Year – Corporate
- Underwriting Manager of the Year
- Long Term Insurer of the Year – Risk
- Product Supplier of the Year – Investment Product Lump Sum
- Product Supplier of the Year – Investment Product Savings
- Product Supplier of the Year – Employee Benefits
- Product Supplier of the Year – Healthcare
Note – for 2018 the Gap Insurance / Medical category will not be awarded due to small sample sizes. However, this will be reconsidered as the category grows.
The awards are fiercely contested and the winners are recognised as companies that go ‘the extra mile’ for the consumer and the intermediary. Although product suppliers walk away with the accolades, on the night, the Awards are also a celebration of the value that financial advisers, brokers and other professionals bring to the industry.
The diagnostic component of the survey not only gives us insight into where our suppliers are doing well, but also identifies areas of concern that can be addressed to improve outcomes for intermediaries and consumers.
The awards would not be possible without the valuable input we receive from our members. The FIA will partner again with Ask Afrika – an independent research company to conduct the FIA Awards survey.
Please keep an eye on your inbox for a link to the online survey. All you’ll need is 8 minutes to complete the online survey.
The telephonic survey will cover the diagnostic component only. The diagnostic component gives us insight into where our product suppliers are doing well, but also identifies areas of improvement. This helps us to focus our attention and resources on making the necessary improvements where required. Please note – randomly selected members will be contacted telephonically by Ask Afrika to provide input.
Remember, the survey is completely anonymous. No specific participants will be identified and the results will be aggregated before we see them.
A reward for you participation
All FIA members who complete the survey will receive a full summary of the results after the awards ceremony, which takes place on 28 June 2018.
We look forward to another year of active involvement by our members in this process. Thank you in advance for your participation.
