Samantha Williams
Head of legal and regulatory affairs
I worked in compliance in the financial services industry for nearly 20 years. I obtained my LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1998 and have worked in South Africa and the United Kingdom, covering insurance, investments and advisory and intermediary services amongst others, during the course of my career.
Having spent my career within the corporate environment in an advisory and support role to business, I welcome the new challenge presented by my move to the FIA, and see it as an opportunity to engage with members, regulators and industry bodies in shaping the future of the financial services industry in South Africa.
Bernard Lubbe
Key individual & marketing manager (Regional manager – Northern)
I have spent the last six years in the financial services sector as a “dynamic insurance broker”. I have been exposed to many different businesses and people and that has given me the opportunity to serve customers across multiple disciplines within the industry.
I was an active member of the FIA for the past five years. I held the position of vice-chair for the FIA Platinum branch for two years, representing the members on various levels, including committees, Advisory Council, Regional Council and branch management.
I look forward to being a “difference-maker”, representing the interests of all members within our incredibly diverse and challenging industry.
The FIA is at the forefront of the challenges that we as an industry face. I am excited to be even more involved in driving the sustainable future of advisors in South Africa.
I believe that the FIA is an absolute necessity for all financial advisors in South Africa, and I am proud to be part of such an incredible organization.

My background is operational management – I am goal orientated, very driven and pay attention to the detail.
I look forward to learning more about the financial services industry. From what I hear and see, I think it is an interesting industry with many facets and lots to learn, I don’t foresee any dull moments!
I am very excited to be of assistance to the members of the FIA.
