Sanibonani, Good morning, Goeie môre.
I represent the Financial Intermediaries Association of Southern Africa.
We appreciate the opportunity to address the PCoH and will briefly touch on one aspect of our submission in this public hearing.
We submitted that the recommendation for ward-based primary care teams, contained in the National Development Plan, be considered. The potential economic value of this proposal is massive.
- It can create a substantial number of new jobs
- Employed people are healthier and can therefore contribute more to the economy
- The impact that 8 people in every municipal ward will have to promote healthier living is immense and will contribute to a better awareness of living a healthy lifestyle
This proposal requires meticulous management, capacity, and systems to be put in place, which may draw criticism concerning the validity of this motion. But this should not detract from the value these ward-based primary health care teams can have on improving health outcomes.
Sisonke masisebenzele kwi-South Africa enempilo! Let’s work together for a healthier SA.
We will provide feedback on the last two sessions which is scheduled to take place in the West Rand District tomorrow and the City of Ekurhuleni on Monday.
