The annual FIA awards took place at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday, 28 June 2018.The night was abuzz with over 900 guests all in attendance to honour key industry players, intermediaries and exceptional brands within the financial services sector. The theme of the awards was #FIAsenses playing on the idea of the five senses. The FIA would like to send a big thank you to our 2018 sponsors of the event who ensured that guests were entertained and also gave away some amazing prizes.
For their activation, 2018 FIA partner, Bidvest Insurance added a celebrity element. Guests were given the opportunity to rub shoulders with rugby player Odwa Ndungane.
Bidvest Insurance’s marketing manager Lucy Cooke gives details of the activation below.
“I think our activation went down really well, the energy around our stand was electric! People were buzzing with excitement and were queuing up to have a photo and meet and greet with Odwa Ndungane. We wanted to create an exciting moment to remember for all those attending the FIA Awards, and I think we achieved exactly that. Odwa was such a gracious guest and happily posed for photos, signed our mini rugby balls and caught all the dropkicks attempted by our visitors” says Lucy Cooke, Bidvest Insurance’s marketing manager.
How the activation was executed and received at the awards.
The activation was a social media campaign, guest were encouraged to take a photo with Odwa, load their photo onto social media and tag us with the hashtag #BidvestWINsurance, the competition ran for most of the night and just before the lucky draw we added everyone names into a bowl and Odwa picked out a winner from all those that had hashtagged us. We also gave out four Ernie Els wine hampers to those who interacted with us the most.
The Bidvest Insurance activation stand
The activation was very well received on the night with a host of entries received across all social media platforms. Our winner, Sandy Le Feuvre, was ecstatic about winning our prize! We flew her down to Durban equipped with uber vouchers and a two bedroom suite at the Protea Hotel Umhlanga Ridge for her and her family. Our commercial department was there to welcome her at our fully catered rugby suite at Kings Park on the half way line and her husband Phil ended up serving drinks to the Sharks supporters commiserating the Lions loss. It was an excellent day and we hope to host more people in the industry and be involved in more activations at FIA events, so keep a look out for us!
