The East Rand branch held their AGM and year-end function at the Emerald guest house in Springs on Tuesday the 20th November 2018.
The first part of the day was the AGM which took place in a traditional meeting setting. The branch chairperson and Financial planning exco member, Charles Mcleod and Nicola Iozzo, the Rand regional director and short-term exco member presided over the meeting. Charles presented the chairman’s report, which gave members an overview of the progress made on pertinent issues over the year.
Nicola emphasized the importance of focusing on the FIA’s core strategic objectives specifically; representation and ensuring sustainability and relevance of the intermediary.
Solani Baloyi, Rand regional manager, was introduced to members and she assisted Charles with the member election process, during which two committee members stepped down and two members were elected onto the committee for the 2019 year. In the spirit of encouraging feedback and open communication, members commented on the year’s highlights and items to be addressed.
The second part of the day proceeded as members moved over to the lodge’s dining area where they enjoyed welcome drinks and later a hearty 3-course meal. The members also enjoyed great music played and performed live on the venue which had an intimate and cosy feel.
Thank you to Mark Winkler, the out-going committee member for organising a successful event.
