Following engagement between the FIA and the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS), the closing date for the CMS healthcare broker services surveys has been extended from 30 September 2026 to 30 November 2026.
The CMS is running two surveys to measure the services healthcare brokers provide in the medical schemes industry:
- Brokerage Organisation Survey, to be completed by the head of each healthcare broker organisation.
- Brokerage Clients’ Survey, for medical scheme members who use a healthcare broker for benefits or services offered by medical schemes under the Medical Schemes Act (131 of 1998).
What we ask of members
The survey results will give the CMS a picture of the value healthcare brokers add. A strong, representative response from both brokers and their clients is therefore in the interest of the whole intermediary sector. We encourage members to:
- Complete the Brokerage Organisation Survey, if you have not already done so: Complete the Brokerage Organisation Survey
- Share the Brokerage Clients’ Survey with your medical scheme clients, and encourage them to take part: Complete the Brokerage Client Survey
A short, personal note to clients explaining the purpose of the survey is likely to improve response rates, much more than simply forwarding the link.
Confidentiality
The CMS has confirmed that responses will be used for statistical purposes only and will be kept private and confidential. Participation is voluntary, and respondents may withdraw at any time without penalty.
The official CMS letter is available here.
